R.R. Haywood has truly outdone himself in terms of character development. Unlike many other authors who excel in this aspect, Haywood has also managed to create an equally compelling story line. This is not just your typical mindless zombie tale. Instead, it is a well-thought-out and carefully developed story that will keep you hooked and coming back for more.

While the first book in the series may not have initially made it into my top 5 zombie stories, each subsequent installment has skyrocketed up the list. “The Undead, Part 11” now easily ranks in my top 3, with one of the other books only holding a special place because it was the one that originally got me hooked on the zombie genre.

Although this audiobook is nearly perfect, I do have one minor criticism that I feel compelled to mention. There is a bit too much “boyfriend girlfriend” tension in this particular installment. While this might not bother some listeners, personally, I found it slightly unrealistic given the dire circumstances the characters are facing.

Now, let’s talk about the narration. Joe Jameson, who took over from the previous narrator, Dan Morgan, does an excellent job of bringing the characters to life. The narration is so engaging and enjoyable that I had to increase the speed to 1.25x just to satisfy my desire for more of the story. The good news is that even at this increased speed, everything is still perfectly understandable, making it an ideal option for those on a tight budget.

“The Undead, Part 11” is a truly engaging audiobook that is not to be missed. R.R. Haywood’s logical and relatable storytelling, combined with unexpected conflicts between the main characters, makes for a thrilling listening experience. Joe Jameson’s performance as the new narrator is outstanding, with his voices for each character being even better than before. While I initially had reservations about the change in narrator, Joe has truly proven his talent and dedication to the series.
